The story of Baldo S.A. began in 1920, in a small artisanal yerba mate production factory. Founded by brothers João, Antônio, and Luiz Baldo, sons of Italian immigrants residing in Vespasiano Corrêa, a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In the 1980s, Baldo opened their first branch outside of Rio Grande do Sul, in Canoinhas, Santa Catarina. Throughout the 80s and 90s, the company continued to grow and expand, and 1998 marked a significant milestone in Baldo’s history, when they partnered with Canarias, becoming majority shareholders.

2000s and 2010s were also successful decades for Baldo, when they opened new yerba mate processing plants, and more recently a factory, which was built in 2017 and where the company started to develop a line of teas derived from yerba mate, such as roasted chá mate (aka mate cocido). Today, Baldo S.A. is a prominent Brazilian yerba mate producer which focuses mainly on Uruguayan and Argentine market, and are known for quality of their yerba mate, which is certified organic and halal, as well as their dedication to preserving the biome where yerba mate is grown.
