Yerba Mate Orgánica Roapipó was founded in 1925 by the Swiss emigrant and agronomist Albert Roth. Since that time, Roapipó is growing exclusively an organic yerba mate in the province of Misiones in Argentina.

Albert Roth revolutionized the organic yerba mate production in Misiones by introducing his so-called “Roth System”, which is a sustainable method for cultivating yerba mate without destroying forests. Instead of clearing land through fire, undergrowth is cut, and malformed or mature trees are selectively removed for wood. Yerba mate is then planted among natural tree shoots, which are allowed to grow. This approach preserves soil health, promotes long-term tree growth for future use, and provides farmers with economic sustainability.
