Kraus’ history dates back to 1894, when Francis Kraus, a young Austrian, emigrated with his friends to Buenos Aires. There he married and settled his family in the territory of Misiones.
They had eight children, one of whom — Francisco José, the eldest, — started growing his first yerba mate plants at the age of 13. At 21, Francisco José got married and together with his wife they bought their own land.
Kraus is today a small family business that produces and sales yerba mate and tea organic and fair trade certified, in Argentina and the world through its network of friend distributors. They cultivate and produce yerba mate and tea in Colonia Santo Domingo Savio, San Ignacio, Province of Misiones, Argentina.
